This virtual presentation explores how nutrition can play a key role in supporting individuals with Down syndrome. It will cover common health conditions associated with Down syndrome that may be influenced by dietary choices, highlight specific nutrient needs often seen in this population, and provide practical strategies to encourage healthy eating behaviors.

Presented by Danielle MacDowell, M.S., CNS, LDN, M. Ed, BCBA, LABA, Licensed Clinical Nutritionist/Board Certified Behavior Analyst Danielle has a Masters of Education in Severe Special Education and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Danielle also has a Masters of Science in Human Nutrition and is a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) and licensed dietitian nutritionist (LDN). Additionally, Danielle has received specialized training in the use of functional medicine for ADHD and is now a certified functional medicine ADHD provider. Danielle brings a unique set of specialized skills to the field with her 12 years of experience as a severe special education teacher along with her behavior analysis credential and, as such, has made it her mission to increase awareness of health-promoting principles across disciplines and abilities. Along with supporting neurodiverse communities, her passion lies within the realms of supporting mental health, gut health, and brain health. In particular, she strives to integrate behavioral and nutritional interventions that support all three of these health domains, and does so in her private practice, True Potential Nutrition.
