A RACE FOR EVERY BODY:
7th Annual Unified 5K & AdaptXpo Raises Awareness, Funding for Adaptive Fitness
Founded in Massachusetts, nationwide 5K series gives athletes of all abilities the opportunity to compete – from Paralympic hopefuls to first time racers
The 2025 Unified 5k is an inclusive road race built on the belief that every person, regardless of their physical ability, should have the opportunity to compete and be active. On Saturday, participants ranging from Paralympic hopefuls to first time racers, will run, walk, and roll to raise awareness and funds to make fitness and physical activity accessible. The interactive AdaptXpo will demonstrate innovations in assistive technology and adaptive sports, including amputee soccer, frame running and more. Organizations participating in the expo include Spaulding, The Hoyt Foundation, The Bionic Project, Adaptive Sports New England, Easter Seals, and the National MS Society.
More than 1 in 4 adults in the U.S. has a disability. Literature demonstrates that people with disabilities aren’t as active as their non-disabled peers but it’s not for a lack of interest – 76% report a desire to be active but face significant barriers to doing so. All funds raised support AdaptX programs to create more health and wellness opportunities for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, including the donation of Hoyt racing chairs and adaptive equipment to local fitness facilities.
